I have been to the hampshire potato day today, very good it was too, individual tubers were 14p or you could have 8 for £1.00.

Being new to this I didn't realise how many types there were !

Also went for lunch (as advertised on the entrance leaflet) at the local sports centre, lovely leek and potato soup.

We bought, Rocket, International Kidney, Lady Christl, Cara and another maincrop that I can't remember the name of.  ???

Also got runner beans, peas and sugar snaps.

This is our first year with an allotment so feeling excited but also a bit nervous.

Have read loads on here so thanks for all the info.   :)

It was good there. Bought Sarpo Miro and Axona, Golden Wonder, Anya, and Sante, plus Belle de Fontenay.

Better clear the bramble bit on plot 2 or there won't be space...

Stopped off at Wisley on the way home, and they are having a potato day on 4 February, with talks and stuff, and also have a fair selection of potatoes, but only in big bags.
What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

Got 72 tubers this time - the freebie Blue Moons, International kidney, vitelotte, Red Duke of York, Sarpo Mira, Kestrel, picasso, Ratte, Pink Fir apple and for pots, Mimi and Rocket.

I hope to find somewhere to plant them all!

I stopped at Wisley too, intending to get some garlic and ending up with two bags of galtonia (I love them),  the garlic and (cough)'s worth of snowdrops.

I missed the freebies  :( ... how did you manage to get them?  What are they?

It was the Dutch folk on the stall near the far corner who were giving away crisps and cold chips. They were giving away Blue Moons, which of course I couldn't resist, being moonbells :)

They are not registered yet - so they could only give them away. Wanted feedback from growers which I'm happy to do.

If I can find somewhere to stuff them, that is!
