Well here we are in our brand new home.  All credit to Dan he has clearly worked hard on our behalf.

However I have some 'constructive criticism' to make regarding the login and personal settings.

Firstly the login seems more case and 'space' sensitive ie if you dont put your login details in exactly the right case it rejects your login. Also if ther happens to be a space in your username you have to put an underscore rather than a conventional space or again it rejects your login.  This is not a real problem just will take getting used to.

You can only seem to be able to change password and not username, which for me makes the above changes more difficult to get used to.

The second comment concerns changing personal profile settings. It seems now to require entry of pass word, and if you fail to enter it it resets the profile to before you made the changes. This could get annoying if you want to make a lot of changes.

The other thing is the new system seem to be more picky over avatars (those little pictures under your name that appears next to each post you make). I had set one up fine (just) before the server was switched, but now it is apparently too big. How exactly i am supposed to change something taken from another website, or even know if the pic i want is small enough i just dont know!

I am sorry to 'nitpick'  but i just thought i ought to bring these things up. I stress this is 'constructive criticism' and not a moan.

Sorry heres another one.

I am finding the text in the messages a little small for comfort. I tried changing the text size on my browser, but this changed exerything but the message text.

Iam sorry about this but already the a4all expperience is being spoilt for me :(

Richard,

Thanks for the comments.

With regard to changing your display name, you can - there is a Username option, and then a Name: option, it is this name which is displayed on your messages.

The username thing is a bit of a pain, it's to do with the storage of details on a databse not in text files, as you say over time everyone will get used to it, and you should only have to login once unless you use a shared computer that is and log out yourself.

And as for the avatars ...

The previous software was very ineficient with bandwidth, so if an avatar was using a very large picture then every time it was dispayed it slowed the server and consumed bandwidth - not a very good situation!

May I suggest to use a custom picture, download it to your machine, resize it to the appropriate size, upload it to hpphoto (I think that is your prefered picture host) and then link to from there. A bit of a hastle I know, but at least it would work.

Cheers

Dan
