what kind of packaging do you use when sending cuttings by post?

Depends how big they are, I've sent them wrapped in damp newspaper (small) or in a cut in half water bottle which I then tape together again (biggish), then into a little box with a bit of bubble wrap. Seemed to work.

Hyacinth

Read on another site........get jumbo straws, cut to required length & slit up one side. Wrap roots in damp tissue & lay in straw. Not tried it myself, tho.

Hello Amazin

Do you think that I can be cheeky and ask for some seeds/cuttings too.  :-[ I am starting a english country cottage garden and this is one of the plants that I have not yet been able to find at any of the plant sales.  I am after the blue/lilac and then I believe there is also a red/pink one?

Let me know what I can send you in return.

Transport using damp kitchen paper, covered with cling film and put down a kitchen paper roll works well for some plants and cuttings!!

BTW - a question

as a matter of interest what do people plant with it?  I have a lovely plant next to Bowles Golden grass and an orange Geum!

Rosebud, Jitterbug,

The cuttings look to be settling down nicely, BUT! -

On Sunday I spotted some self-seeded babies coming up in the garden!

It was getting dark, though - and nippy -  so I didn't do anything about them.

I'll harvest them this weekend - they might be even quicker than the cuttings.

Either way, I'll let you know when they're good to go.
