Does anyone else get disappointed/frustrated when they click on a newbies profile and they don't put where they're from?
I always check new profiles to see where they are from and how old they are (nosey aren't I  ;D) always hoping that one day it will be somewhere near me. And knowing the age gives you an idea of how many younger people are lottying.

LOL! Yes Ani, I was the same!!! But when I arrived had no personal info on here at all, and now???  ::) ::) ::) ;D ;), seed swaps, addresses flying about.........I think people add info as they feel more secure and much as I'd love to know more about who I'm replying to, I can understand them being bit dubious. I mean, it is a bit of a madhouse, and thank God for that!!
Lottie  ;D ;D ;D

Hi ani, well, if it's any help .... I come from a long line of survivors going back millions of years    :P
The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is the fact that it has never tried to contact us.

Ani. Quite agree with you. I think there was an earlier post where people though it may be a security problem. Although I don't mind not viewing peoples ages (even that I do find interesting) but I would love to know what part of the country members are from.  Lorna   From the Fens Cambs but still has her native London accent ;D

Hi, can't find the right buttons to push to change my details LOL

I'm in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Took my half plot on in June and managed to get Spuds, Beetroot and radishes to grow. It's now covered with black plastic as weeds grew better than veg LOL But they say that if weeds grow well then so will veg ;-)
Just taken on another half plot, one that hasn't been touched in 20 years so wish me luck lol

Good luck to you and keep it real :-)

My idea of a good time is a new seed catalogue to read.

I want full details please.  Then I might click on a profile and find female, 25-35, single, Lincoln, gorgeous, loves gardening....

I can but dream.  ;D

Seriously, if you restrict yourself to nickname, age, gender and nearest town of at least 20,000 people, I would have thought that your security would not be that compromised.

You can add to the 'personal profile' thread in the Shed section.  It just won't notify that it's a new topic and peeps will need to remember to look at it.

And new peeps will need to know it's there ???

Goodluck

Wish I had an allotment.  I love A4A.

On our Trade forum we have agreed that to include each persons whereabouts (Town/County) on the bottom of the post would help...it does

I am going to add mine right now...if I can remember how to do it

Derek

What a plonker...I have just realised I did it ages ago...Yet another senior moment?

Hi I'm Lottie 3 - can you believe I thought that might be an original name - doh.  I got an allotment at the end of last year but it was a mare and I covered it with cardboard and manure and now it is growing beautiful luscious looking grass - fortunately another plot next to it came up in March and was a sqaure plot as opposed to a long thin leftover bit. This got dug and sectioned into beds with paths - some by me but mostly by my OH's dad as I managed to get whiplash - soon mended when it came time to plant - funny that. Just as that was full I started eyeing up the next door plot to that one which was very overgrown but had tons of raspberries growing on it - the lady had to move away and now I have three allotments. The first is going to be reserved for a mini orchard and some grapevines, the second is my veggie plot proper and my third is for my permanent stuff and is nearly full of fruit that has emigrated there one way or another and my greenhouse which was moved there for my birthday weekend before last.

Oh yes from Brentwood, 39 .... just completing on flat purchase with OH on 28th this month, three rescue cats and frustratingly passionate about growing things you can eat - which wasn't evident when I met my OH three years ago but which he is just discovering after being an alotment widow this last summer. Didn't know about how to update my profile either but will do.

;D

Hi Sid

So what's Doncaster like?

I just found your marvellous website yesterday, and added my profile almost immediately.  My profile says that I am in Cardiff, but in my heart, I am really a displaced Northerner (or 'Welsh-Wannabe', as I am often called).  Any other Cardiffian Newbies out there?
