Not at all allotment related I am afraid - but if any of you ever visit Sydney, Australia, be sure to visit this tiny fish & chip cafe.
I have never tasted such good food. Eating area approx 10 ft x 20 ft, crammed with tiny formica tables, no frills, hard wooden seats. BYO wine, but the cooking is to die for!
You can't book, so had to put our name down and go to pub next door to wait for 45 mins after which time the owner trotted over and yelled table ready. After 45 mins in a Sydney pub, I was a little the worse for wear, but my teetotall son (currently working in Australia) recommended a dish of Dory with pine nuts and mashed potato, wih greenstuff which I think included asparagus & grapes but can't be sure. Superb. Cost about £45 for five of us.
Next time if there ever is one, I shall go stone cold sober to appreciate it even better.
They have a posh bit next door too.
It's Mohr & Mohr, 204 Devonshire St, Surry Hills, NSW 2010.
