Having drained/cleaned/repaired a concrete pond in Mid-May, which is now O.K.,
I am delighted & puzzled to see shrimps today.

Where on earth do they come from?

I've been wondering that too.

There are loads in my pond. I've heard they will travel across ground to get to a new pond, but I doubt if any of my neighbours have ponds (most of them seem to think gardens are for concreting over).

I suppose they could've hitched a lift on a plant from the garden centre.
gone to pot :D

Will the fish not eat them?

Some fish will eat them, if they are large enough. :(

Hopefully some will get through OK, as they are brilliant scavengers, and will eat just about any left over food that goes to the bottom of the pond. :D

They normally come in as larvae on the pond plants, but they are totally harmless :D
