Onion - Siberian Everlasting
Sometimes also referred to as the Welsh Onion and botanically known as Allium fistulosum. You can sow anytime Spring to Autumn. Use the thinnings like Spring onions allowing those that remain 9" apart in rows 15" apart. They grow into strong clumps that you `pull' as required for any purpose you need onions for. Always leave part of the clump to regenerate. They can last many years and will grow in part shade. These are grown in Russia and as the name implies will sustain very severe Winter weather.

Just muddling along, trying various crops, styles etc, will repeat what works. Will try again what doesn't!!

Thanks for the info.  I've ordered them from the place suggested by Terrace max.

Thanks again to you both

Hi Sussexcliff

I tried the site you mentioned, they claim that you can get 1 ton of potatoes from 6 seed potatoes.  Have you tried it?

No, I wouldn't know what to do with a ton of pots. Besides seriously as pots take up space for so long, I'm going to concentrate on early first earlies, early second earlies, lates and Christmas ones.

I'm trying to grow stuff to harvest when it's expensive in the shops. We'll see how we get on!!

Cheers

Think there is also a red welsh onion. Tuckers seeds i think sell it - now where are my catalogues, - ah yes, just in the box under my desk!!!  Red Welsh Onion - stronger flavour than the white type, also hardier. Very attractive. - www.edwintucker.com though they haven't got online ordering yet.
