Hi everyone,

well, I do like a challenge! Ours is the white marker in the front of the picture to the back corner behind the plum tree (reason we chose this one!)

Should keep us busy for a while!

At least it doesn't look like waist high weeds and brambles. It will be hard work but the rewards are priceless. One bed at the time and before you know it it will be harvest time.
You'll be picking plums soon I would think so actually you begin with harvesting and then start the clearing.

Go for it a bit at a time Daisymay....and most of all? Enjoy it!!

Hi Daisymay.  That doesn't look too bad!  ;)  We got our plot end of May and it was waist high in grass, dandelions, marestail etc.  Like Ina says, take it a bit at a time.  We are doing beds and have found that digging and clearing a bed (10ft x 4ft) is a lot less intimidating than clearing a whole plot.  And you can get bits in as you go along - am waiting for first harvest of.... radishes!  ;D  Good luck and enjoy.

Absolutely - a bit at a time (munching on plums as you go!)  It's worth keeping a photo record as well so you can remind yourself how far you've come.  Good luck with it  :)

looks very different now! the council came and rotivated it yesterday. Had quite a shock when I popped down there after work. I had wanted to clear the worst of the weeds - it has a blanket of bindweed - before they came, but only got 1/5 of the way across. They were 2 weeks earlier than they said they would be!

Oh hum - going to be a challenge to get rid of the bindweed now..... but ....... still smiling!!  ;D

Rotavating will have chopped up the bindweed and made the problem a lot worse. The roots are very brittle, but with care you can excavate the whole thing and have done with it. If there are a lot of other roots in there, or a mat of bindweed roots, you won't getr it in one year, but don't despair. You do get on top of it in the end.

You can keep a lot of it covered over while you do a bit at a time  :)
I came, I saw, I composted
