Does anyone know of a good but resonably priced propagator, also where can I buy it?

Much has been said before about this. What do you need it for? What is 'reasonable'? Where will you have it? What do you mean by 'propagator?

I'm afraid that I believe it sensible in the long run to buy the best. A large, thermostatically controlled thing,with 10" depth.
And/or a thermostatically controlled heat mat. Ours is 6'X3'.

Our local Aldi still have some in stock. They are a little larger than 2 full sized seed trays and £19.99

well, i will have two types of propagator, soon to be three. the ones like i think you mean that has an electrcity supply to heat the soil, seed trays with lids that keep up the heat. Soon to make a sand box.

well  'normal ' propagtors are good, but sometimes can make the seeds become leggy one is about £15-£20

the seed tray ones, i think are great. thye supply a good temperature and you can get a pack of three for about £5.

the sand box is a bit more complicated, a box filled with sand, with a heating cable in the bottom, then rods can be placed in to control temperatures. the sand hols heta a bit better and the seeds trays grow nicly, usually not very leggy. these cost about £30 for a BIG one. make it yourself kind of thing

By rod I take it you mean thermostat and don't forget to keep the sand damp, if you let it dry out too often it will knacker the cable

Yes, there is alsorts of attcahments someone was saying for them on the beeb boards. so they can do just about anything! apart from sow seeds!

got mine from B&Q - was about 3 quid. Plastic tray, see through lid, 2 sliding vents at the top. Done fine for me so far.

No heat control though so sometimes stick it on top of the tumble dryer!

I have used it for courgettes, sweetcorn, and corriander. I have moved them and they are goning ok still at the moment.

The thermostat will cost ~£25, the cable about the same then there is the cost of wood and sand - I have plans for one if you want it the size is 2' x 4' but you can stretch/shrink it to whatever size you require
