Who else got cooked at the lottie today?

We only managed an hour, lightweights!
Make the most of today, because you'll never have it back again.

went up at 6 last night, spent the first hour trying to find somewhere shady to hide.

By 9pm it was lovely and pleasant. Haven't tried today - am bottling gooseberries!

Only a few days ago it was too cold, and now I am too hot!!

I just walked down the garden and my poor plants, many of them look droopy in the heat, poor things!  I shall wait until this evening to potter around in the hope it will be cooler then!

Enjoy the sunshine.

And remember sun-bloc for the kids?? And even you?

Tulipa

Yes, I covered my boys early this morning the sun was so hot and have been topping it up, much to their disgust!

My thermometer is in the coolest part of my garden and is reading 30degrees, OH has taken eldest to Milton Keynes to a concert and says his car is reading 37degrees.

I'm off for a nice cool drink of water!

Hi Tulippa,

My youngest (16) has gone to the MK concert as well, with four friends and one of their fathers. She hates hot weather, she doesn't even really like being outside!  She texted me an hour ago to say she was absolutely roasting.  Just hope she's slapped on the sunscreen as she's milk-white and won't wear a hat.  Still, we've had a massive thunderstorm here so it's hard to know which would be worse!

Jane the Novice

Hi all also V.hot here in Essex. Worked 7am shift and on my way home car thermometer was reading 33.5. Having worked the late shift yesterday him indoors was SUPPOSED to do the watering last night but he "forgot". Did some essentials last night at 11pm but as a consequence my plants all look a litthe frazzled today.
Trillium I just love to look at your weather station stats. Where abouts are you in the uk?

Trillium

Hi Jane,

I'm in the north-west, just north of Warrington.  Glad you like the weather station - my OH bought it for me for Christmas and I'm quite transfixed by it - couldn't wait to get back from a do yesterday to see just how hot it had been during the day.  The outdoor sensors have little wireless antennae on them which feedback to an indoor box, and that's connected to the PC, which pushes the data to the web-page.  It's great when I'm away cos I can see what the weather's doing and give the neighbours a ring if I need anything doing.  Luckily I've got great neighbours!

Hi Trillium,

I put loads of sunscreen on my daughter before she left this morning and she had some with her so hope she used it.  I had a text from her about an hour ago saying it was very hot and they were looking forward to the concert starting.

My OH has taken four of them and he has to find something to do until he can pick them up again.  He doesn't know the area so I wonder what he will do - I bet there are loads of Dads wandering around MK for 12 hours today!

I hadn't realised what a big concert it was until this week, but they were meeting up with other friends too so would be in a big group.  They have taken a roll of bin bags to wear if they have a thunderstorm! Although the weather forcast on countryfile showed the storms not coming down that far.  I love your weather station info too, it is fascinating.
