I present to you my allotment brethren, a poem scribed by a my dear mama.

Please enjoy ...

At last I had made it my own little plot
With eager enthusiasm I bought a lot
Of spades rakes & forks and a wheelbarrow too
All straight & functional & shiny & new
After digging & digging for hours and hours
Amongst sunshine & gales hail & showers
I raked and sieved & I sieved and I raked
Until I was utterly completely flaked
I weeded & cleared I sweated with toil
Until I could see loads of lovely clear soil
Small shoots & leaves began to appear
I dreamt of fresh vegetables I had no fear
With anticipation I watched day & night
If I saw a pigeon I gave it a fright
Then came my holidays booked in advance
An opportune time my tan to advance
I languished on pool side with larger & shades
My memory of pigeons began slowly to fade
I returned to England to damp and wet
I rushed to allotment fresh veggies to get
Imagine reaction shock, horror, dismay
What had happened while I'd been away
Where were my vegetables my joy & my pride-
Just rows of fat pigeons sat side by side
In my allotment just a fine row of stalks-
so back to the wine and popping the corks

Lovely!  But thanks for not letting us think that is what you think!  Otherwise we would not be here!  You give us a lot of leeway!  Thanks Dan!

There's no doubt that our Dan's such a treasure,
For the fun that we have in our leisure;
It's all due to him,
He set up on a whim
This site that gives us all so much pleasure.

 ;)     :o     :)     ::)     :-*     :D     ;)
Earth fills her lap with treasures of her own.
