LL  check your lottie prices I think you or your secertary have made a mistake, even £15 for three bags is far too much for a lottie shop.  :o :o :o       ;D ;D ;D

Roughly how many spuds are in a 3KG bag, so I can compare prices, please?

The number of spuds in a 3Kg bag is not particularly important.

If you get small ones, you get more but then you plant them closer together
If you get large ones, you get less, but plant further apart and they'll grow bigger.

One 3Kg bag will do two 25ft rows.

For an 'average' spud (what ever that may be) you'll get between 45 and 55 in a 3kg bag.
Ie plant at one every 12 ".

For a bag with about 70 small 'uns in, plant every 9" - again you'll get two 25ft rows.

When Santa's about, just hoe-hoe-hoe

Thanks for the advice Ceres.  Will check the spud prices when I receive the order perhaps it was a misprint or mor likely, I read it wrong.  If not, I am going to be eating an awful lot of spuds next year.

The Wilko's in York today had about 3 bags of spuds left- hopefully they'll get some more soon- their whole gardening section was practically empty!
Wyevale have got theirs in, a very good range, though no Lady Christl, all 3.49 or 3.99 for 3kg.

Went and helped unload the seed spuds at allotment shop this morning after work, came away with

 2x3kg Cara
 2x3kg Maxine
 1x3kg Sante
 1x1.5kg Smile
 1x3kg Rocket

£2.60p per bag,  not a bad price to pay.
The reason I am having so many is the present state of the country do not know how long i will be in a job for and i look on it that anything I can grow could help reduce the bills later in the year.

About 120 sq yards, or between a third and a half of a standard plot... assuming he puts them in with the spacing I use for my 18kg...  ::)

- their whole gardening section was practically empty!

Presumably, that is because they have emptied the area of Xmas rubbish ready to stock it for the season ?  That was certainly the case in Chester at the weekend.

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"
