Old frozen broad beans
« on: February 08, 2011, 06:50:54 »
Do broadbeans get harder the longer they're frozen?
Seem to remember just being able to pour boiling water on them for couple of minutes before slipping skins off last summer but when I did some the other night still hard after about 4 minutes boiling on stove.
Thanks

We freeze ours before they get to be monsters cos we eat the lot skin and all. They are ok whenever we decide to eat them but we do steam they and they take about 10 to 15 mins
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

When I cook my peas and b/beans from frozen I use extra water and make sure the water is boiling well and slowly drop the beans/peas in.  I think if the water goes well below boiling the veg. do not taste so good and take longer to cook of course.
