Yes last year we had a page on the UK Just giving site which allows you to collect for charities and they also get the tax back making it even more if you tick the right box.

I have been thinking how we could make this a little more interesting and have come up with this idea....

I am going to wrap up 6 small Christmas Gifts to be sent to 6 of the first 49 that donate this year.

To make it a truly fair random choice of who will receive these surprise Christmas presents I propose that each of the first 48 people that donate can choose a number between 1 and 49 (first donation first choice!  one choice per person!)
Then the six that will receive the surprise gifts will be the winning numbers from the Lotto main draw on Saturday the 11th of December which should allow enough posting time for them to arrive in time for Christmas.

The winners can elect to have the present delivered to their local Post Office or other address if they wish.

I am in another thought for charity  http://www.erskine.org.uk/news/general-news/  Especially as another of our boys was blown up at the weekend, and there was no mention of his comrades who were injured with him!

Anyway I hope you will think favourably on my suggestion.

Erskine On Gardening Leave
Erskine and ex-Service charity Gardening Leave have entered into partnership for a new project aimed at helping ex-Service personnel afflicted by combat-related stress.

 

Based in the Old Garden Centre, Erskine Estate, Bishopton, Gardening Leave will run the horticultural therapy project whilst Erskine will assist in recruiting suitable volunteers to assist the qualified therapist.

 

Gardening Leave Horticultural Therapy, not previously been used by the military in the UK, aims to provide a relaxed comfortable environment where veterans are able to feel optimistic about the future and able deal with their problems in a positive way. The Erskine facility is now the third site that will offer Gardening Leave’s services, with two others located at Hollybush House, Ayr and the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London.

 

Anna Baker Cresswell, Chief Executive of Gardening Leave, said “I am very much looking forward to working with Erskine and to expanding the work of Gardening Leave so that more veterans can benefit from the structure and routine exercise we provide.”

 

Erskine’s Chief Executive Jim Panton said: “Erskine cares for 1370 veterans every year and we are delighted to be involved with the Gardening Leave project. This partnership will allow the exceptionally high standard of care we are renowned for at Erskine to be extended to even more veterans.”

There have now been several charities put forward all of which are worthy causes but to donate to more than one is problematical, as is choosing one over the others!

Reading through Jazzidoodles comment I noticed that Gardening Leave is mentioned which is a small charity started in 2007 to help improve the mental and physical well-being of ex-service personnel using horticultural therapy in walled gardens.

I'd like to suggest that this year we support this charity as a suitable cause, and hopefully it's one that members will feel happy donating to.
 
Clearly we need a consenus on this within a few days otherwise I feel that it's possible that we'll end up not bothering at all.

Perennials the one Id like the forum to support. Were in a recession and there are people in dire straits financially that deserve help. Flightys choice was successful last year, spread it around a bit this year.

Its not. Split however much is raised between the charities that werent considered last year.

If the money is split each charity could end up with very little money .
