Cinereria Plugs Dropping Like Flies!
« on: February 07, 2010, 21:00:14 »
I bought a tray of 40 Cineraria maritimo plugs back in November. They arrived safely and I potted them into a cell tray- 1 to each cell.

I've kept them indoors in a warm, well-ventilated room.

They grew on ok and more or less doubled in size.

However, since early Jan I have lost around half of them. They seem to wilt and keel over. They do not respond to watering.

(I have generally watered at an average rate).

Any ideas what could be going wrong? Maybe I bought them at the wrong time??

I bought some larger Cineraria plugs at the same time and planted them in the garden and they are fine!

Over-watering would be my guess.  I think these plants like to be on the dry side although as I don't grow them myself I'm prepared to be corrected.
