Yesterday we had a bought cabbage :sad10:, but today I'm going to make a nice oven dish with own leeks and own spinach. They just grow so slowly at the moment ....

Beetroot, onions and garlic plus there has been just a little growth on the greenhouse salads, so we had a small portion of salad with chicory, lettuce, landcress, spring onions and rocket.  The lamb's lettuces are coming on as well but they are still tiny.

Babington leeks are going strong as well as the Multiplier and Everlasting onions.  Chives and Welsh onions have put on some welcome growth too.

On the downside, the outside rocket has gone - lifted the cloches and there was nothing!  I think they rotted away as the garden was underwater for quite a time this winter.

Still have a few squashes and potatoes in store too.

Sorrel - made a lovely quiche. I don't like sorrel much but as a quiche it is fabulous. Plus of course kale tops for Mike, and proper purple sprouting for the rest of us.
PS for the quiche recipe see the recipe thread!

I knew there was something missing on my plot this year!!  No purple sprouting.  :dontknow: I simply didn't have time to get it sown, grown and sorted last summer..... and now I'm missing it.

We've been eating leeks.... but now even those have dried up.

They took umbridge to being underwater for such a long time over winter - no PSB here either - still fortunately we have other veg to go and the salad stuff is making a little bit of an effort in the greenhouse.  Made roast potatoes from the garden today.

Potatoes, Babington leek, chard, scorzonera tops (the roots are for another day), shallots, squash for the main.

And a side salad consisting of: baby chard leaves, a few lettuce leaves, chives, everlasting onion, lemon balm, witloof chicory, lamb's lettuce, rocket and cress.

Tonight we will be eating some lovely globe artichokes and there are several still to be harvested.
Also picked new potatoes, beautiful ones this year, some mizuna, a red lettuce, and some spring onions. Also have a punnet of strawberries for dessert!
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Tons of lettuce with a lovely dressing of olive oil, blackberry vinegar (plus salt and a little lemon juice for sharpness) and also lots of chard and kale. Asparagus again tomorrow. (Not stopping picking it until Midsummer Day, if then....)
