'over summering' rhubard

Hello all
I have been given a rhurbarb root but the bed in which i wish to plant it won't be ready until the autumn how best can i 'over summer'  it.?  Will it be ok in a pot?

I would think so, try to place the pot in a semi shaded position till the space is ready to plant out ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

I would get as big a container as you can, an empty heavy duty plastic bag even. (Large empty compost bag perhaps).

Put it in a mix of soil and well rotted manure.
