If I buy some Autumn raspberries now, can I cut them right down before planting? If so, wonder why they aren't sold like that?

well, bought and planted my Autumn Bliss raspberries at the weekend. Was about to cut them down when I noticed that one of the canes (last year's wood) has formed a bud! Any idea how I remind it that it's not a Summer type? Should I cut it down or leave it be?
