Hi All, I think it's slugs and snails eating my brassicas. I grow them in weed barrier with holes cut in. I have crushed egg shells and sprinkled them around every plant but maybe not enough. I have got some hair from the barber to see if that helps. I am reluctant to use pellets as there is a blackbird and a robin that come right up close when i am weeding. I have got some liquid traps, never used yet< and was wondering if alcohol free beer would be a good thing to use to trap them. Does anyone have a home made recipe for a liquid trap? I have my home brew but it's for me  :drunken_smilie: but would try it.  Has anyone got advice to help. Thankyou all in advance.

Hi not been here for some time, but now need advice and help, I have a raised bed, 2 foot of the ground, and all the runner bean plants I put in are being eaten, the last ones I put in on Tuesday and covered with netting, thinking it might be pigeons, but they have been eaten, cannot see anything under the leaves of the two that are left, cannot see anything on the soil, so am really puzzled as to what is happening to my beans, anyone got any ideas, ?

Hi all,

I have been having trouble with my peas the last 2 couple of years, either they rot in the soil or only a few germinate outside, yet if I sow the same seed in a border in the greenhouse I get very good germination and lots of peas.  The only difference I have done the last 2 years is not scatter lime of the top once covered up. I have scraped away the soil and no peas at all in some cases.

any ideas? I understand the rotting is down to too wet soil. But no peas? could it be mice, birds, squirrels?
