Juliev, I'm intrigued by these two varieties. I haven't come across either of them before. Googling has established that they were both bred by Wild Mountain Seed in Colorado and both are offered by Vital Seeds. I'd be interested to know what your source was and how well they grew for you. They both look amazing.

Yeah it's a cool 18c today but it does get cold here in Winter - just not for long!

May have a way forward with the pictures, they all still exist, just the reference has become 'confused'

and yes the link at the top defaults to unread since your last visit  :happy7:

Good luck finding the old photos. Fingers crossed.

Yes, certainly there is an unread posts link. But unread posts doesn't do the same job as new posts since last visit as there may be lots of old unread posts one doesn't wish to read!

Unread posts since last visit was always my starting point. In fact though, having just tried it, unread posts does only throw up recent ones so perhaps it will work well that way.

The Basics / Re: Pigeon predation
Last post by Vinlander - December 02, 2024, 09:27:13
The main predator of pigeons on our site is foxes - we do have a few cats so they can co-habit.

But we have so many foxes that they are pretty hungry - but sadly not hungry enough to take rats - which are presumably much more likely to fight back.

If your plot is in the country you probably have a lot less foxes then we do - hardly anyone in the cities has a shotgun and the foxes definitely know it - I would go further and say they wouldn't be bothered by city shotguns anyway because most of them are only used to rob post offices.

We do get the occasional kite or hawk but the crows tend to mob them, presumably to protect their carrion supplies - as they don't seem to bother the flying rats - sadly.

We even had a visit from a very beautiful and rare swallowtail hawk (we did report it to the RSPB) but despite its size the crows saw it off.

Cheers.

Haven't given up on retrieving the old photos, looks like a filesystem error on the old server, I am persevering.

And under where it says allotments4all at the top of the screen there should be an unread posts link?

Thanks
