I've dug up lots of teasel seedlings today, some quite big , and was going to put them in the compost, but wondered if that would be storing up trouble for next year? Would it be best to just put the leaves in and throw away the roots?

Think I would chop off the roots, or wilt them for a week. I have done this with all manner of" nasty "weeds, buttercup and creeping grasses. I have a panel of chainlink fitted to a frame that sits across the pallet bin thats fullest, several days on the "rack" and then into the next batch. Hopefully your compost will heat sufficient to destroy all nasties.....

I'm not sure that my compost will heat up enough- it's a plastic bin type.
