Yayyyy the start of a new year brings tomato sowing time a little bit closer.

I’m wondering if anyone fancies a virtual tomato swap for January? I’ve been rummaging through my seed tin and I’ve lots of varieties to start it off. Plus we have quite a few varieties from the last seed swap we can add in.

It will be similar to the virtual swap (with an  a slight upgrade!) but as some folk may be sowing very soon, this will be start and finish January. Well that is the plan!

If you would like to take part, add your name to the thread.
Also if you don’t have any tomatoes seeds to join in the swap but would like a few seeds, send me a SAE and I’ll send some back (my pick).

From the Seed circle and virtual seed swap I have about 30 different varieties.I couldn't possibly take anymore, that would be greedy.

I this for saved seed or for unwanted pkt seed? What's the maximum age you regard as viable?
Mind you tomato seed never seems to fail- perhaps I've not got to its limit. Is it 7 years-- but I'd hate to send someone a dud pkt.... Shocked I'd like a few [say 6] seeds of something and can swap a few. So count me in please.

BarriedaleNick,  I'm sure they will be of interest. Although I guess the swap already has enough of  couple of the more popular to be shared varieties.

Counted in Goodlife

Saddad, sounds like you have a busy season ahead  Smiley

Poolcue I'm not sure you can ever have too many tomato varieties  Grin Have to say I think we had a great selection from the Seed Circle and it is going to be tough deciding what to sow this season.

Green lily, nice to have you aboard. Swap is for home saved or bought seeds. I agree tomato seeds if stored corectly remain viable for a number of years, although there is no way of knowing how old bought seeds are only that at the time of packing they have passed a germination test. So, in line with the previous swap I'd ask again for everyone "to be fair to all taking part and only swap viable seeds with a decent date. Make sure seeds are in packets, clearly labelled with variety and sow by date or when saved". I was thinking 10 seeds as a guide to a minimum amount of seeds to swap. Hope this is ok with everyone.

I've loved the last two swops but have put up more staging now due to an influx of cactii. So I'm going to give this one a miss.
Have fun!

Sorry for the delay, I’m still having a few computer issues and was hoping I’d be able to access my tomato list rather than re do it. Anyway list should be up and running tomorrow. Starting with BarriedaleNick as he is first on the list and then Goodlife etc. When it is your turn if you can list what you would like and what you will be sending.  I can then add your seeds to the available list for others to choose from. Seeds can then be sent to me along with a SAE. Hope it makes a bit of sense but any questions please ask away.

Did I say definitely Amish Paste and Purple Ukraine plus Delicious if that's of any interest. I'm thinking of trying grafting some tomatoes this year if I have time but that shouldn't affect the seeds...I'll do Super Marmande and GD outdoors but they will be too ordinary.. Wink

Yayyy finally this is on the road,  I got a bit carried away writing the list but I hope it is enjoyable for those taking part. We have about 200 varieties of tomatoes to choose from so I hope everyone will find something to delight. I've sent the Virtual Tomato swap link/list to BarriedaleNick and Goodlife as they are first and second. Not many taking part, which is a shame but hopefully now this is set up it can be run again at a later date Grin
