Last couple of days I've had suspicious activity near my back door....and this morning it has been confirmed...yes our resident blackbirds are planning to produce some offspring.. Grin But they are a bit loopy...the nest is on my shoulder height 1 metre away back door in ivy..they have chosen a branch out of all the big wall that is not covered by leaves and started building up from that..yes..a high rise nest Roll Eyes
Never seen anything like it..rather than normal sort of bowl shape nest on branch they are building a pedestal first to get to the leaf cover and then doing the bed thing...and the stuff they use nylon garden string..plastic...moss...chickens feathers..dead grass...twigs..
Now I know where all my string disappear.. Grin These two birds are as daft as their landlords...I never do anything the easy way... Roll Eyes

Our peace was shattered this afternoon by a "screaming"blackbird. I couldn't see it but saw the reason .One of our resident magpies had an egg (I assume the blackbirds) which we watched it hide at the base of a tree plucking dry grass to cover it with. There was nothing we could do about it and I suppose the magpie has mouths to feed .
Bit sad though  Sad
