No more. We had a bit of a disaster this morning. I had to move mother and chick to a cardboard box so that the chick could get out to eat. Well I looked out the window and she was sitting outside her shed and the 3 other hens were in the shed causing mayhem. They had throw one egg out lucky it was empty but now mother isn't interested in sitting on the other 4 left so i've lost them now as they got cold and I don't know where to put them where its warm enough. I've tried the top of the boiler & airing cupboard but not really hot enough and they feel cold. At least I got one.

Mother and chick are fine now they are in an ark all to themselves.

Awww she's lovely  Smiley

I'm trying AGAIN to hatch lavender pekin frizzles in my incubator. The first lot never emerged  Sad

Got a candling thingy but I'm really not sure what I should be looking for.

I can see black 'blobs' in the eggs but they're only about half-filling the egg. Stopped turning them at the weekend as someone advised me to do so.

Any ideas anyone?

It's always so exciting when a chick hatches. Be very wary of predators for quite a while, though, especially cats.
