Finding frogs

I'd love to have a few frogs on the plot to help keep those pesky slugs and snails under control. The question is - am I too late this year?

If I fashion a small (and I'm thinking something maybe dustbin-lid-sized) pond and let it be, will I get some froggy tennants moving in? I don't know anyone with froglets at the moment so would be relying on passing trade, as it were.

Any ideas gratefully recieved!

froglets

Outside of the mating season frogs like damp shaded areas where they can stay out of sight of birds.  You could try providing them with places to hide that let them move from one end of your plot to another to where there is cover around about.

I'm sure they'll love some water too, but there are others who know more about that than me.  Don't get fooled by the screen name, I just have lots of small frogs in my garden, but there is a lot of dense foliage and wildlife corridors which seem to make them feel right at home.  My sandstone rockery is a favourite stopping place.  They slide under the prostrate alpines up against the cool stone & just watch me go about my business.

Love 'em, so would hope you can get some to take up residence.

Good luck.
is it in the sale?
