My mum bought me one of those ornamental twiddly feng shui bamboo things as a pressie, not for any significant reason, just she rather took a fancy to it and thought I might like it.  There are about 15 stems of bamboo, about 6 inches high and they all sit in a dish of water.  Each stem has produced a mass of roots!  What do you think, enjoy it in the dish for a week or 2 longer and then try potting some of the stems up?  Anyone else had any experience of these things?  There is no growing on advice on the label as I kinda figure they are treated more like long lasting cut flowers.

Put it in a tub if you do decide to plant it out EJas Bamboo can be very invasive.

They're selling them at M&S for a small fortune, maybe we can all get rich?

Right, bought it and read up!  They are not bamboos after all, but Dracenas. They will produce roots, and when they do, if you like, you can split them up, plant them in free draining soil, and keep them as house plants!  Fab!!  So, mum bless her, not only bought me a pretty wee table centre ornament type thing, but a houseplant too - you know that by spring, I will have  a wee plantation of Dracenas setting up home with my bird of paradise and bananas in the conservatory!  Happy days!   Grin

Ah, am confusing Pandas with Koalas, easy mistake to make - who cares tho, buy Pandas, one of each sex, and encourage them to mate by watching you and Ava_B - all for the good of Ecology....
