Hello, lost one of our chickens this week through me being slack. I fed and watered our 8 Rhodeyys then put them back in the henhouse. Next morning when i went down to open up there was a huge pile of feathers at the side. At first i thought fox had got in and quickly opened up to discover only 7 hens. Yup I'd left one out from day before to become easy prey for the fox. Live and learn.

That happened to me on christmas day, I also felt bad about my own neglect. When I locked up it was already dark and was busy preparing the meal so I rushed out there to lock the hens in, didn't have a torch to check if they were all inside and didn't worry about going back out with torch to check, wish I had because typically the day you don't double check is the day one has decided not to go in. Pile of feathers and one missing bird the next morning. Felt terrible about it. We all make mistakes and it's easily done, sorry about your loss though, not very nice is it.

Cheers Jim i'm sure i could if i had a gun and waited down wind. On this occasion it was my fault, but other folk lost hens, chicks, ducks last year i was kind of hoping someone else would nail it. I'm not very good at killing things.
