Yes. I have never bothered making raised beds & my beds are now (after several years of hardwork & adding plenty of organic matter) almost weedfree the soil is easy to dig & well drained.

Same here. I have railway sleepers dug in around some of my beds, & patio slabs around others. Some paths have a wooden edging as a kerb, plastic laid inbetween covered in wood chippings as a path.
