Hello :)

I bought some globe artichokes from Wilkinsons and put them in pots in the conservatory. They came on quite well, but 2 days ago, the one flopped and is now dead. Last night, the other one started to flop, I suspect the inevitable. I have put the pots outside incase they were too warm, but not likely. They weren't dry or overwatered.

Does anyone have any advice, please.

Thanks

cj :)

That's not such bad news then.. I'll leave them in the pots outside for now, and put them in the allotment when the bed is ready. Here's hoping ;D

I bought some from wilkinson's, yes they did grow but they weren't like the nice ones I got from the garden centre. In fact i think they are cardoons, the globe was very prickly and unappetising looking. The flowers were beautiful though.

I find with globes they will start to grow about now if there is a warm spell, but suddenly drop if followed by a cold spell, they usually bounce back again though. Mine have over wintered for the past 4 years and I always think I am going to lose them but they keep in bouncing back.XX Jeannine

I've got 2 plants outside which I actually moved a couple of months ago.  They still have the old growth from last year but no new growth yet.  I've put a cloche over them & am hoping for the best & have sowed some seeds which germinated really quickly.
