potato plants

The flowers on the end of my potato plants have turned in to little green fruits. What should i do with these?

dont eat - they are poisonous.
some folk say you should nip the flowers/developing fruits off so the plant concentrates on the roots rather than the fruits. i didnt do that with mine - too lazy - and the birds seem to have had them instead. which suited me fine
