Hi gunnerbee - try sowing the seeds into well drained moist compost and just dampen the surface when it becomes dry but don't let it dry out too much.  I use GP potting compost with sharp sand, grit or vermiculite added to aid drainage  Put the seeds in on their edges and barely cover them with compost or vermiculite.  Try to keep them warm and not too cold at night.  I always try to maintain night time temps above 50 deg F [10degC].  Once through, I mist the seedlings regularly if they are in the sun which seems to zip them along a treat.

I hope this is of some help but you should not have too much trouble once we get rid of these nasty cold nights and it is certainly not too late to start again.

I shoved propogater lids on mine and they came up a treat. BTW has anyone else spotted that Sankey lids are £3.99 at Focus but the lids and trays together are £2.99!
