??? Hi all, I have had this plant for years. Has anyone any ideas as to what it is please ??? ??? I was given to me a few years ago now & the old lady has passed on. I was told to plant it in the flower bed, which I did. I waited 3 yrs. Nothing just leaves. ::) So dug it up potted it & put it in the greenhouse for 3yrs. ::) Nothing but leaves & a couple of babies ::) So repotted & put it in a sunny position & left it outside for the last 2yrs, nothing but leaves & babies ::) ::) Is it ever going to have a flower of any kind ??? ??? Help please, I just know you are all going to say it's something obvious but I can't find it :-[ :-[

Well Marley it looks as if it is Crinum powellii. The plant likes a sunny sheltered spot in a moisture retentive soil and flowers in August/September.
Crinum is a bulb which hates disturbance.
                         Good luck,

Plant it out, it won't do anything squashed into that pot. It will probably take a couple of years, but give it time.

:-[ Thanks very much both of you.  ::) Looks like I should have just left it alone & forgotten about it in the first place. I might have actually had something  of a plant by now. That will teach me to mess around :-[ ::) I shall  give it a nice home in one of the beds ;D Where it should be happy ;D ;D

;D Morning Robert, Glad to hear they are not fussy. I am really pleased to find it is a member of the Lilly family. ;D I adore Lillies & grow allot of them in greenhouse & outside in the garden.  :)The old dear who gave it to me said she thought it was a Lilly but her memory was not all it could have been & I thought she must have got it confused as I have never had a problem in getting any of mine to flower. How wrong we can be :-[ ::) I kept looking for it but for some reason drew a blank. I usually get on quite well googling but not for this one. Thanks to Montanum & you I now have it sorted. Thanks. 8)

I hope you have more success with it that I have so far. The first lot I put in were promptly stolen; it was the beginning of a period when i didn't dare either plant flowers or even weed my beds, since if I did everything would immediately walk. I put some more in last year but they haven't flowered yet. I can't wait.

:) I hope I'm successfull as I managed to find pictures & they look wonderfull, now I'm as impatient as you to see them flower. I'm sorry to hear you have been having plants taken from your garden :'( I think that is so unkind & unnecessary >:( I once had a problem like that & eventually after sitting up for hrs I found out who the culprit was :o so when I saw her next & we were talking I said about these things disappearing & that I was going to set up the video camera ;) It was hard to keep a straight face while talking to her but it worked :) nothing has disappeared since touch wood :) I know it was a little white lie but sometimes I think it is justified :) Good luck with yours I hope they soon flower :) :) :)

The important thing is that the last site secretary died, his widow was kicked off the committee, and the problems ceased. I never got legal proof but nobody doubts the identity of the thieves. I'm sure they'll flower soon, this year or next. You have to be patient with some bulbs!

:) Hi, I shall sit back & wait again, should have just waited in the first place. I just didn't realise it was going to be years :o :o ;D ;D. Glad things are not going walkies any more with you. Thanks. ;D
