Tomatoes - Blossom End Rot

Up until last year, I don't think I had ever seen blossom end rot on my tomatoes... Been growing tomatoes for ages... even neglecting them for a few days when away visiting, filling up the drip trays to the brim before leaving... tomatoes happy for years... but this and last year... well, we've had heatwaves,... is this a sign of more issues to come?

I've had a little blossom end rot too Multiveg it's difficult to give the toms constant, regular watering in this hot weather

I always have blossom end rot on my first tomatoes - no doubt because I don't water them appropriately. Always very annoying, but the following ones are OK. It doesn't condemn the whole crop.

BER ..I have tried a few things research seems to suggest calcium deficiency at night , so I save egg shells during the winter, dry and crush them to powder, make a deep hole sprinkle liberally fill it back in a little and then plant the young toms, also if you can water the plants so they are moist during the night.
