Good afternoon fellow allotmenteers. I've acquired 4 x 50L bags of Plagron's Batmix soil, will this be suitable for digging in to the plot?

Thanks

It seems to be a mix of quality peats, worm casts and bat guano with added perlite and similar. It sounds like a superior potting compost to me.

I think the question is whether your plot is good enough to deserve it!

I'd use it for pots this year (or top dressing established plants in the garden) and then dig that in to the plot as a soil conditioner.

What does it say on the sacks?

Looking forward to replies! What is batmix?!!

Having read the info in TeeGees' link, the most astounding statement that struck me is "100% organic as the bats choose their own food"!! Can anybody else see the irony in that?
Would that equate to 'all supermarket food is organic because the consumers choose it'.?

If these companies are now going into Indonesian caves to shovel out bat droppings, what sort of ecological damage may they be doing? Organic, quite possibly; green, quite possibly not!
