Outdoor tomatoes

Silverleaf....you had in circle's parcel 'snowdrop' tomatoes...those are definite outdoor variety and VERY early one too. Though  they are small bush type you can plant 3 or 4 plants in space of 2 'ordinary' bush ones

Oh and edit to add...wasn't there in 'parcel' 'wild type' tomato seeds too....they will sprawl all over the place (if given chance) but will happily grow outdoors and have some tolerance against late blight as well!

thanks for the reply I've got no grass left on my path been up and down them all winter 10 rows dug out for my 1st earlies to go in in a couple of weeks I'm flying this year sitting on my hands now trying not to so things too early on this east coast your never quite sure when the winter is over it was a warm day today a balmy 10 degrees

Okay, I finally decided and got my tomato seeds in the heated propagator.

I'm going for these varieties outside:
Katja
Podsnezhnik (Snowdrop)
Sandpoint
Coyote (the wild ones)

And these in the greenhouse:
Black Cherry
Costoluto Fiorentino
Helsing Junction Blues
Sosulka Chernaya
Latah
Green Pear
Sunstream

Can't wait to see them grow!

I didn't have to wait long... almost all my tomatoes are up already after three days! Sosulka Chernaya and Katja are now in the light box.

This is vey exciting. ;)

The trick now is to stop them getting too leggy.... the spindly shoots are more prone to damping off... if they get too long bury them upto the seed leaves... and deeper if needed...
