sweetcorn / popcorn?

I harvested my sweetcorn yesterday and tried it last night. Wasn't as sweet as I thought it'd be, and a little too fibrous for the kids too enjoy. Do you think I can dry the kernels and use it as popcorn insteac. I'm too tired to make chutney having spent all day doing this with the marrows.
