Squash & Pumkin potting on

I know there are lots of growing wizards out there, I have grown these before but can't remember how deep to plant them when potting on. I sowed them in 3inch pots & need to pot on.

Do I put them deep so that the first 2 leaves are level with the compost same as I do with tomato's.

Any help will be great, thanks everyone

I do plant them deeper..though I'm sure there is many who don't and still get equally good plants.
I just think it will help the plant to become more stable as they don't like wind rocking them about..

edit to add... last year I had best plants ever by missing the 'potting on' stage and planted the seedlings straight into ground placing clear plant domes over them for 2-3 weeks..just to give them that little bit more shelter and warmth.

The is a risk of frost again next monday/tuesday with some weather dropping down from the north, be warned,

our sqaush and pumpkins were only sown in pots last weekend, we are in no rush this year

I don`t pot on deeper, only to the same depth but I only water from the base. The stems can rot so I plant on mounds when going into their permanent positions, which will be in 2 weeks time, when they have filled the new pots with roots. I am in sunny somerset

I do exactly the same as you strawberry1
