Celery seedlings

Hello all.

I've been given  around 40 celery (self blanching variety) seedlings. They have grown to between 1 and 2 inches with most having about 6 leaves on them. They are very spindly and I wondered when I transplant them (I was thinking 3 inch pots) should I bury the bottom couple of leaves or just plant to the top of the root?

Regards

I grew celery the last couple of years, they like moisture but there is a very fine balance between good moisture levels and too much. Sounds like the seedlings have been too warm and or dark. I would personally split the seedlings and transplant half in each way as you described and give them as much light as possible, outdoors on nice days etc
