Help identify this plant?? :)

Hi everyone 
After being on the list for an allotment for 2 years we got given a plot last week :)
It's really over grown at the moment but we've started clearing it and in the process we came across this plant and we have no idea what it is! I'm really curious to find out what it is so I can decide whether or not to try and save it :)

Hypericum I think.

Personally I wouldn't save it, it does its job in supermarket car parks but other than that its not worth its space imho.

Hello and thank you for the welcome :)

It's going to take a fair bit of clearing but we are looking forward to the challenge! We only have a small yard at out house (enough room for a Veg Trug and a few pots and hanging baskets) so we had our name down for every allotment site in our town lol

I think it is a blueberry,probably a late one, the shrivelled fruit are about right for now if they were not picked, the leaf colour is changing as they do, I can't see the height too well so not sure if it is a high bush or lowbush, most foks grow high bush so it could just be a young plant

Paul said he thought it looked a bit like a blueberry when I was taking the pictures, I didn't have a clue lol. Maybe we should try and clear around it on the weekend so we can have a closer look and take some better pictures. I don't want to rip it out if it's a blueberry :)

I think they are hypericum and not blueberries so please do not eat them as they are poisonous.

The second link shows Hypericum androsaemum if you scroll down to the end.  The berries in that picture are rather like the ones in your picture.

No, not blueberry - blueberry doesn't have that calyx, I think raisedbedted got it with hypericum - not an edible I'm afraid.

Yes you are right, just compared them, odd that it should be on an allotment so I guess my thoughts took me via the edible department..well done you two XX Jeannine

Blueberry would have made more sense, but as it happens I planted a hypericum on my allotment by my pond - I just like hypericums. :)
