Hi guys,
I have the (dubious] pleasure of flying with the (infamous) airline next spring. Tickets are booked but a few questions I would like to ask you experts if you would:
- as a couple are we restricted to one hold baggage only (paid for) per couple?
- what is the weight restriction for the hold baggage?
CHECKED BAGGAGE

Each passenger may check in up to two checked bags upon payment of the applicable checked baggage fees by electing to purchase a checked baggage allowance of either 15 kilos or 20 kilos when make their initial booking. After the booking is made checked baggage can be added to a reservation via the Manage My Booking facility up to 4 hours before the scheduled flight departure time. The checked baggage fees are charged per person/per one way flight and are discounted when booked on-line.  Higher baggage fees apply when checked bags are purchased via a Ryanair call centre or airport ticket desk, during peak periods and on selected routes. Fees may vary from time to time but it is the rates in force at the time you book and/or pay for your checked baggage allowance which apply.

At the time of booking, there was no indication of
- 1) the weight choice restriction of hold luggage
- 2) the number of hold baggage/per couple
From my payment details I have one checked & paid baggage allowed, I understand I can carry I hand baggage @ 10 kgs./ person with dimension control (hand baggage not a problem).

If I wear my walking boots and most of my walking clothes, pack all my weight restricted gear in to 2 cabin bags, do you think I will conform to Mr. O'Leari's regulations?

Your valued advice is welcome!

I think that only counts if there is an R in the month. Providing you are wearing brogues and tartan socks. They also measure your @rse as they charge for your seat by the inch. You could ring up their premium phone line to double check your allowance.

Wearing a lot of clothing at the moment is not checked but it can be quite a problem taking off all your coats etc at security and it gets very hot in the airport.  You do tend to have to take climbing boots off because they contain metal in the soles, so do not wear smelly socks. :toothy10:

IF you have paid for baggage I presume you get at least the 15 kg.  Suggest you send a query by email.  Have they send an email confirming the booking.   You can always take some things out at the airport.

I have travelled several times with Ryanair and it was not that bad.   Do watch the queues at the airport they have a habit of opening another desk and taking the people from the back of the queue.

If you go onto their booking system the booking baggage is right next to where to put in your names.  You can choose either 15 or 20kg.   IT is not in a separate area so easy to miss it out.

Have you gone into 'manage my booking'?  Seems you can buy extra baggage there for slightly more than the original price much less than the turn up and pay price.

Basically, did you pay the extra for a piece of checked in baggage when you booked? It is per person, so you needed to do that for each person reserved. If you check it in without reserving you will pay a hefty fine, probably about 80 pounds! They are very strict about the baggage and weights so do weigh it all before going.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Thank you for your replies.
I think I have managed to unearth the info. I require, after delving into their copious T&C's. What an awful mess their website is! I found that I had booked one hold bag @ 20kgs. which will do with the two/10kg. cabin bags. Had to go back & book the hold bag for the return! Typical Irish way of doing things.
As I'm travelling to Spain with OH, the one thing I couldn't find was where to enter the APIS info.. An email got me nowhere so I rang the expensive phone number. (You enter it when you down load your tickets I find). Not surprised poor unsuspecting folk end up paying for all the potential mistakes.
I am now an expert!! (ex being a has been - a spirt being a drip under pressure)
