I have been shopping e Bay to fill in the gaps on John's Rupert Bear books, he has a very big collection of Rupert stuff, in fact he has a Rupert room. Looking through toys, books etc  always seems to remind me of something else from my childhood so you start looking for that.

I used to have Pelham puppets, Muffin the Mule was my favourite so of course I looked, Muffin stuff is there alright and oh boy..Pelham puppets, gosh I could see another collection coming on..

MT dad always bought me soap at Christmas with a picture sealed in wax on it, I even found some of that..old favourte perfumes in fancy glass bottles.

Snow globes, I have resisted a collection of those for years.

I do collect 6 inch Rosebud Thumbsuck dolls that were made way back when and I have to keep looking for more.. does anyone else remember them.

John and his old lead soldiers, oh boy and his Meccano

Did anyone have a Diablo..

Books, I could have spent a fortune on, Enid Blytons.. What Katy did etc.. I was in heaven.

The shire horse on wheels, and of course my beloved Gollies which I have dozens of!!

Alan Dart knitting patterns.. I thought I had lost till I started looking again.

I dare not even look at the vintage sewing or kitchen stuff or I will have that Silver Cahatalain I always wanted or the Georgian Silver nutmeg grater.

There is something about getting old that makes one cherish the toys of childhood.

I wonder what old kids toys and special stuff, you all remember . I got a bit nostalgic when I dug out my wooden pork pie molds..oh eck get the tissues.

I am sometimes amazed at what people will collect, star wars figures, silly McDonalds giveaways etc. Some of this tat commands megabucks to buy. Then I think back to my own silliness  when I started collecting toby jugs way back in the sixties. I left myself broke a few times when I spotted  new one in a junk shop and had to have it.  I have to wrap them and store them away now as they have changed from being unwanted junk into valuable antiques. I would hate for any of them to be broken.

I am sucker for books...all sorts..
I have quite a lot of kids books too...just for me...Andy Pandy, Various Enid Blyton's, Narnia's, Pooh, Beatrix, cartoons..all sorts..in English and Finnish languages.
I don't have that many toys anymore though I do admire them in Ebay...if I would only have more room....
One 'toy' that I'm still looking for..and I know I have it, but my mother cannot remember (she hid it from me few years back) where it is in her house is one of those ball thingies.. =two balls on each end of string and in the middle of the string is ring to hold while trying to get the balls move up and down and meet right on the top . It used to be so pain to play with it.. and made you totally obsessed to carry on until you 'get it'. Those balls were really hard and gave bruises when bashed against hands..lol..things we do for 'fun'.
If I remember right they were eventually banned from sale because the balls chattered or because of the injuries?!..that was back in 70's?

Goodlife, you are talking about Clackers.. I was pretty good with one of the ones my kids had,,they came back for a while but schools forbid them, you should ask your Mum for it back..." she's a big girl now"

Ace, we also have Toby Jugs and am thinking about letting them go..they are tucked away if the mountain of storage boxes I have.. btu the thought of the effort is overwhelming.

Ah..clackers..they used to drive my parents nuts..such a racket going on :evil6: :icon_cheers: I did come back from Finland only few weeks ago and when I was there I asked again about my toy..."I haven't thrown it away...it is somewhere in cellar in those boxes" :BangHead:
But, my mother is moving into new house soon so I hope she is going through all the stuff and will find my precious balls :glasses9:
