sweet corn

some things been eating my sweetcorn, Its shredding the leaves and eating the kernels, not sure if its field mice or birds Is there any way of finding out so i can net or just pray ill get to them first

We have had problems on two sites with badgers going straight for the corn, and there is very little we can without licences.

Badger helps himself to both sweetcorn and peas on the lottie , so have to grow them at home. :happy7:

No sign of badgers here, I think the deer like them too.

it's mice with us, we're virtually certain.  I had lots of cut off plastic bottles that I use for cloches in the spring, so rammed these on  each cob to protect them as best as I could, leaving the two worst ones still available - and that worked very well.  We'd just caught them in time.

did the mice strip the outer leaves to shreds and ate the kernels away if so may i should use your idea and cover them with plastic bottles

on our allotments too. Only the sweetcorn patch, bashed and broken down and half eaten cobs strewn about. Looked like vandalism but was a badger, first time on our site
