I don't need to keep any for propagation so have pulled them off and will continue to do so. Question is will this help to keep energy in the plant to assist in producing more/larger berries?

Hello telboy.

I'm not sure about producing larger berries - perhaps another A4A'r could help on that, but it should give you more fruit as the plant diverts its energy from fruit production to the new runners. Hopefully you'll have a good crop this year although we could do with some more warm sunshine.

It makes sense that runners take energy but nevertheless I'll keep them running to get new plants. As I have read is that after 3 years the plants won't give strawberries any more.....This year I had a lot of green lice so I lost a few plants and I like to keep the amount of plants steady at 40.
Maybe next year I will cut the runners off and let's see of I get more strawberries! :-)

So far they are tasting good!

Yes, absolutely right it's best to replace some strawberry plants every year as they will gradually produce less and less after 3-4 years
