Hello all.

Is it to late to grow sweet potato slips from purchased sweet potatoes?

Trouble with shop sweet potatoes is that they can take weeks if not months to get them sprout.
I past I've washed some tubers to clean them from any possible chemicals that may have been used to treat the tubers against early sprouting...but you just don't know if they've had the treatment or not.
Even after 'wash' and with help with propagator it has taken 'ages' for them to get going. Certainly at this time of the year you would not get them to grow quick enough for summer planting.
For to able to grow some this summer...you really need to purchase some 'slips' or potted plants. Last year Homebase (possible other DIY/gardening sources too) was selling potted SP plant and they were not horribly expensive. I can't say if they do them again...haven't been foraging in shops for such things for long while..
