Anybody grown Black-Eyed Peas before can they be grown here in the Uk.

Yes, I grew them in the UK but ut was a long season and you should start them as early as you can in order to get them through to the drying stage. There may be a few similar choices over here that are shorter season I will take a look for you XX Jeannine

San Antonio?... it has a shorter season, Soldier if you want a dwarf... neither are quite like black-eyes though.... if you hav ea GH you could start at the end of March .... I do that with Giganda's and just hope that I can control them until I plant them out...

Soldier is a Vulgaris actually Chris, Black eyed peas are one of the cowpeas which are a different type.

If you specifically want Californian Black eyed peas  and there are several strains of the same name they are available all over but there many many other varieties of cow peas too.Harvest is about 80/90 days for Black Eyes which is the most common one . I have a catalogue listing more than 100 varieties. Some have much shorter seasons than actual Black Eyes. A few listed below.

Big red Ripper 70 days
Bohemiam 60 days
Cream Crowder 65 days
Gegegreen Blackeye 75 days
Irma Colvin 60 days
Pole Cat 60 days

When you think of most runner beans being 80 days they are not so different.
