Sorry Debs, my mistake.  Haven't researched how it is spelled until now.  The French spelling seems to be 'Echalotte Grise' aka grey shallot.

Hi Paulie, good to have you join the group.
As you are new to the A4A you may want to introduce yourself to everyone, this is quite a handy thread to say hi http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/index.php/topic,58536.740.html
Or just jump in and post away  Look forward to getting to know you and reading about your chillies. I grew them a couple of years ago, very pretty plants and a good crop of chillies, they were quite hot though! Can't go wrong with seeds from Real Seeds

After having to drop out last year after a number of disasters, I've been hesitant to join, but just can't resist, so can I be on the list too please? I have a new plot on a new site, so all looks good  :sunny:
In the hope that this year will be a good one for squash, I will be growing a few different varieties, also lots of yellow courgettes (yes, they are my favourites) so will try to hand pollinate a couple of the fruit. Failing that, I will fall back on my tomatoes, or possibly peas...but for now, lets say it will be squash of some sort  :toothy10:

I am thinking tomatoes I have quite a few from the HSL so I will give them all ago,and hopefully be able to contribute a better number this year. Will post names later.

Robert_Brenchley

Keep going Elsie, you weren't the only one to have disasters last year!

elsie

Thanks Robert, unfortunately my troubles last year were caused by humans (in particular one very unplesant neighbour and a badly run site) as well as the weather :( but it's a new year, and as the seed sowing has begun and I have started work on my new plot, I am in very good spirits and looking forward to the year ahead x

Any passing Garden Organic members could do worse than look in the new issue of The Organic Way, where our own aj  mentions the pleasures and benefits of taking part in a seed circle.

It all made a very interesting read! :happy7:
