Looked indifferent all morning but stayed dry this afternoon as I cut back a Montana which had climbed up the house and was making an escape bid across the road via the telephone wires... didn't want to be responsible for cutting off the 'phones... in the strong winds. Managed to not "cut" myself off literally as I did last time..........

Hi Ya, The weather here is calm at the moment, I bet I wish I never said that, There is rain forecast for later and storm Dennis over the weekend. I may spread some compost about or wait. If we have another blow like last weekend then why tidy up. I have heard also that another storm is on the cards for next week end as well. I know it's only February but last year it was snow that hit. Still heads up and batten down the good weather will arrive eventually. Happy gardening all

Wind is picking up again here... will be in London over the weekend so have just done a tour to check things are "in place" and held down.

Been breezy and dry most of the day but have had thunder and lightning and torrential rain about 30 mins ago I will be glad when February is over

Hi Ya, Watching the news and my heart goes out to those affected. It has been windy here and just 1/2"of rain. Watching the cars get floated away is terrible. I feel they have got to stop the building as the water has no where to go. They are building round us like crazy and don't care about the environment. It's not for my generation but our grandchildren though they will grow up and it will be the norm as they don't know any different. I find it soul destroying.

I've seen some absolute devastation on some plots via a Facebook group.  Enough to make you want to pack it all in...

Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

Hi Ya, Oh my word that is horrific. Is that your plot? where are the plots? Was that wind  or water or a mix of both? I hope all are not to broken hearted and they manage to clean up and get going again. We have suffered damage but mainly those with greenhouses. One lady has had her insect hotel trashed. Compost bins and lids blown around but nothing like the pictures you have posted. Good luck all and hope you overcome the disaster.

BarriedaleNick

Not my plots - just a site in Pontypridd.  Damage is wind and water so I guess the ground could even be contaminated with sewage...

That is devastating damage.  Hope the plot holders get help and funds to get on their feet again.   It would be so understandable if some just want to give up after this

That certainly looks dreadful... back from London and apart from localised flooding we seem to be OK... informed a plotholder that he had lost his roofing felt after Ciara... but had done nothing by Friday hate to think what the shed looks like now after Dennis.

Froglegs

Wow as it turned cold today......rain.....sleet.... and a chilled wind in Nott's

saddad

Well it's cold out in the wind... but brighter than it has been for days... may get out later, it was the Derby Winter Beer Fest last night....

Froglegs

Got out nice here eventually... went to an NGS open day to see snowdrops and hellebores, which was nice even if half of the garden was under water... then a couple of hours on the lottie, despite standing water yesterday some was quite diggable.

saddad

Grey, wet and miserable... and the weather's not much better!

ACE

Still wet

saddad

Looks promising, that rare thing a dry day....
