I have just dug up my strawberry bed having first removed my new strawberry plants created from runners.
My question is as I plant my new plants do I need to cut back the leaf growth or just leave it. I normally cut everything back in established plants. Many thanks in advance. Al   :hello:

My advice for new strawbs for the first year is to take off the flowers so they dont fruit! I know it sound bad but the second year you will have twice as much as the new plants would have established  :happy7: Also first year remove runners before they get gowing secong year peg your runners in pots or soil for new plants. Then rinse and repeat!
Be kind to slugs and snails!

Don't use salt or slug pellets on them, kill them quickly. (Sorry, couldn't help myself.)

I don't cut back the new plants. I believe the reason to do so on established plants is to remove dead / diseased leaves and to generally tidy up.

Thanks for your answers guys. Although cleared out old bed, new ones in pots waiting to be put in - bad back with sciatica has held me back.  :BangHead:
