Sweet corn breeding

I'm not sure I think it is probably Double Red. The bed is mixed with several varieties producing a red.  I've no idea on taste, it's the first time I'm growing it, but it does look gorgeous, I think one of Alan Kapuler varieties. If the cob does contain seed they will hopefully be crossed with other varieties and go into a mix, which if I have enough of I'd be happy to share.

I'm not sure how many of the original packet I have left, if you only want a few to try there should enough, though I do want to keep some seed for myself  :)
To keep a variety healthy yes it needs a fairly large number to maintain the gene pool, but if you are making a hybrid you can do so with smaller quantities. I think isolation distance is difficult too, with so much sweet corn grown, which leaves bagging and hand pollinating.
