Do people prune their strawberrys once they have finished harvesting?

Ive read that you need to cut them right back?

Not at all. The leaves die back naturally in the autumn, and i leave them to dry out, then give them a haircut at the end of winter. Once the first signs of spring come they will make new leaves.
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

I give them a trim when the leaves start dying down in late Autumn, if you do it too early the plant will grow morw leaves before Winter
